Like the impromptu parties of our youth, friends and classmates turned out in great numbers for this one. No one had to ask, 'What's the party for?' Just about everyone showed up... and had a great time!
A short note to say thank you to Cindy Bledsoe Lawrence for your extraordinary efforts in causing the 20th Reunion to happen. All the planning and hard work really paid off.'
It is important to hold on to things that matter like family and friends. Reunions are an opportunity to see where life’s opportunities have taken our classmates.
What an amazing weekend the reunion turned out to be. Everything seems just like we remembered it. The best part was the people. The warmth and love that we all felt was truly amazing. It is hard to describe to anyone what we all experienced. To all of you who missed this for whatever reasons, do yourselves a favor and don't miss the next one.
A severe thunderstorm almost threatened to cancel this part of our reunion. The region was hit by lightning and thunder. Heavy winds and rain filled the skies. After the storm moved on, some of our alumni remained to enjoy the day. It was a blast on the beach and in the surf. It brought back memories of the good old days!
There is so much history that we share... where we grew up, many 'firsts' that we had as kids and young adults. No matter what we are doing, no matter where we live, and what our lives are like today... we share our pasts. The nice thing about reunions is being able to catch up with conversations and see all those familiar faces again!
In our freshman year, we were just trying to find our way around the campus hallways. We stood in awe of Senior Square which was always occupied by the 'big boys'. We were figuring out which teachers were the ones to have, how to balance our school work with play, and who we were as individuals amongst our peers. In the blink of an eye, we took a leap from being freshmen who looked out of place...
As sophomores, we were getting into the swing of things. Some of us have found deep feelings, and love to recount those times now and again. What do you miss the most? Is it the absence of fellow students rushing past one another, practicing hard and long for the upcoming games, or not seeing your best friend anymore? Is it 'the who you went out with, or where and what you did' that you treasur...
We endured those late night homework sessions. We loved our weekends out on the town. Our high school friendships created lasting memories. We learned a few life lessons along the way. We lived life in hopes of pleasing our parents, teachers, and coaches. We ultimately did it for our own self-esteem and self-worth. We learned to push ourselves beyond our own expectations. With our struggles, we...

You might decide on something different, but this is a great place to start!
An intimate gathering. The Redondo Beach Shoreline and The Palos Verdes Peninsula were sure to bring back memories of our youth. The Pier and The Breakwater areas were favorite hangouts in the late 70's and early '80s. The sunset brings magical colors on the harbor where the boats settle in for the evening. Watching the waves crash on the white sandy beach becomes hypnotic. &n...
May we remember in our prayers those we lost and those who have lost. The Lord hears us and we will be comforted... He promised. - Lani Mahikoa Emmich
'But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.' Isaiah 40:31
Sandra Suarez was unable to organize the event, but The Memorabilia Day Alumni Committee did their best to fill her shoes. Dr Russ Thompson was onhand to give us a tour of the campus. During the tour, we were surprised by some unexpected hijinx... as a carjacker drove a truck through Leuzinger's west gates, through the campus, and crashed into the parking lot gates nearly hitting a staff member...
A few classmates and friends from The Class of '81 enjoyed a fantastic day on the school campus. The presentation was held in Rice Auditorium. The presentation included some vintage footage of a 1935 Varsity Football game. It had caption such as those seen in very early film ear, and it was accompanied by silent screen music.

The current student body meshed in with us old timers for a lot of fun. Richard Castillo and his Jukebox 101 band played old familiar favorites that young and old alike enjoyed. It was all very reminescent of our 'Spirit Week' celebrations. Although many of the visiting alumni enjoyed a catered lunch, some of us treated ourselves to meals and drinks at various student booths a...
It was a good event, but something was missing... The Leuzinger Student Body. Without their presence, it was just an event for the alumni. Their spirit and youthful energy was greatly missed!
Memorabilia Day was back... and stronger than ever!
A very special feature occurred the day before when some of the alumni met informally with teachers and students in the classroom. Alumni were invited to talk about their high school days, their current craft and profession, and the importance of getting the most out of an education. It allowed them to share their talents and perspectives w...
Many years have passed since we walked the halls of Leuzinger High School. We've gotten older... but along with age, we've gained maturity, and experience. We're proud of where we've been, where we are, and what we've become. This photo gallery is an opportunity is given to share those things that matter most to us --- the love for our family and friends!
This mall was part of 4 malls during the 70's in the area (South Bay Galleria to the north, and both the Del Amo Mall and Del Amo Fashion Center to the south). Some time during the early 80's, the Del Amo Mall and Del Amo Fashion Center merged, forming at the time the largest mall in America. This would lead to the downfall of Old Towne Mall.
Old Towne Mall had rides, atmosphere, and unique...
JD did such a good job in organizing the BBQ this year. I'm hoping that more of the people learn about it and can join in the fun. It's not only for us 'oldersters' but for everyone from LHS to join in on the fun. Wouldn't it be great to have the younger generation join us? Here I'm talking like I'm from LHS too!! LHS and HHS were so closely linked and friendships intermingled that it seems lik...

Our 6th & 7th Music/Art/English classes were very special. 'Calamity Jane' was fondly produced and directed by our teacher George Becke...
George's family and many of his former students gathered together to help him celebrate his 70th Birthday. The place? Cafe Mozart in San Juan Capistrano. It was the perfect location to take advantage of this special occasion to honor someone who has done so much for so many.
Why do we admire George Becker? In teaching English, he gave us creative freedom and the ability to express ourselves ...

'Calamity Jane' centres around her effort to save Henry Miller's theatre/saloon from ruin by bringing the much admired, beautiful singing star, Adelaide Adams, to perform in Deadwood's premiere entertainment venue, The Golden Garter. Calamity promises the patrons of the Garter that she will personally bring Miss Adams back from Chicago to South Dakota. In Chicago, she sees Adelaide Adam's show,...
HEAR YE! HEAR YE! MANY MOONS AGO IN A FAR OFF PLACE...
It's been 30 years and the 1978 Will Rogers Middle School cast of Once Upon A Mattress reunited!!! We came for food, fun and lots of reminiscing. Our favorite director, teacher, mentor and friend George Becker was in attendance. Word spread throughout the kingdom.
We gathered together at Ports O' Call Restaurant in S...
The Minstrel tells us that 'Many Moons Ago' a Princess came to a kingdom to try to win the hand of the fair Prince. Yet the Queen, the fair Prince's mother, had other plans. What if this girl isn't delicate and dainty enough for her sweet baby boy? Needless to say, she had to test her. Why not a tiny pea with twenty mattresses on top? If the girl feels the pea, than a genuine princess she must ...
Linda Stoddard attended Eucalypus Elementary and Hawthorne Intermediate as a child. In her teenage years, she attended Hawthorne High School... she was a 1960 graduate . After attending college, Linda was hired by The Hawthorne School District in 1965. For 25 years, she taught at Williams Elementary and then Yukon Intermediate.
In 1972, Linda met Norman Frizzell at a dance in Tor...
High school was a lifetime ago. With graduation, a chapter of our lives ended. Some are relieved that it's all behind us and don't talk about 'those glory days'. By comparison, maybe there isn't anything worth talking about in the face of the greatness that we can accomplish today by spending an hour with our loved ones or dear friends. We tend to forget that it was a period of t...
Yukon Intermediate covered a period of time that straddled Williams Elementary and Leuzinger High School, serving as a bridge between the two. During the middle school years, we were growing physically, psychologically, mentally and socially. Sometimes, those changes could be challenging. Making good grades probably topped your list of goals, but making friends was the most important...
